Supporting Parents In A Challenging Season

Recently, we were able to support new parents of preemie twins facing a difficult time. While one baby required extra care at McMaster, the other was able to come home, leaving the family navigating the challenge of being in two places at once, especially for mom.

We provided $500 in gas and grocery cards to help ease some of the practical burdens and offer a small measure of relief. It’s a privilege to come alongside families in moments of need.

Stepping In To Meet An Unexpected Need

Recently, Royal City Mission faced an urgent situation: their fire panel had become unsafe and was beeping continuously, creating both a safety concern and an unexpected maintenance expense. On the very same day, Rebecca from our outreach team was meeting with Kevin Coghill (Pastor at RCM) to discuss how Grace Community Church could better support Royal City Mission.

Through Just Right, we were able to provide $5,989 to replace the fire panel, helping address the issue quickly and safely. We’re so grateful to be in a position to respond in such a timely way, and we celebrate the opportunity to support our community partners when they need it most.

Coming Together to Support Our Community

Recently, our Grace Community Church family came together to support Parkwood Gardens Neighbourhood Group (PGNG) and their work in caring for neighbours in need. Through a generous collection, we were able to provide cooking oil, pasta sauce, and feminine hygiene products; the top three items most needed by the PGNG food cupboard.

It’s inspiring to see how small contributions from many hearts can make a big difference. Together, we’re helping ensure that families in our community have access to essential items and feel cared for during challenging times.

Caring for Those Impacted by Tragic Event

Earlier this year, our Just Right team learned about two local women who were deeply affected after witnessing a tragic accident near Paisley School, where a young mother was struck by a vehicle. In the aftermath, these women have been navigating emotional and practical challenges as they process what they experienced.

To offer some encouragement and care, we provided two $250 gift cards to Lady Sara’s Bounty, a local chef company. This gift not only supports a small business in our community but also helps ensure these moms have access to healthy, nourishing meals during a difficult season.

At Grace Community Church, we’re reminded that acts of kindness, large or small, can bring comfort and healing when words alone aren’t enough.

Celebrating Love & Kindness in our Community

In April 2025, our church had the opportunity to support the Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition’s Lovingkindness Awards, an event that celebrates local volunteers who make a positive impact in their neighbourhoods.

To recognize these dedicated individuals, we provided 50 Tim Hortons gift cards valued at $10 each as tokens of appreciation.

At Grace Community Church, we’re thankful for partnerships like these that allow us to encourage and uplift those who embody love, service, and kindness in our city.

Extending Support After Devastating Loss

When a local family lost their home in a fire, one of our Grace members reached out to let us know about their situation. While they waited for insurance to take effect, the immediate financial burden was overwhelming.

Through our Outreach program, Just Right, we were able to provide $500 to help with urgent expenses in the aftermath of the fire. Our hope is that this gift offered a small measure of comfort and stability during a time of uncertainty and loss.

At Grace Community Church, we believe that love is shown not only through words but through action; meeting people right where they are, just when they need it most.

A Helping Hand in a Time of Need

Recently, we received a call from someone in our community who was facing a very difficult season. A refugee who works as a personal support worker had been unable to work after a serious fall and was struggling to make ends meet. Though we didn’t have an existing relationship with her, her courage to reach out for help deeply moved us.

Through our Outreach Team Just Right, we were able to offer financial assistance to help cover some immediate needs. We trust that this small act of love will remind her that she is not alone and that God sees and cares for her situation.

At Grace Community Church, we’re grateful for the opportunity to come alongside people in moments of hardship; sometimes in small, quiet ways that we pray make a lasting impact.

New Accessible Washroom at Royal City Mission

New Accessible Washroom at Royal City Mission

Thanks to your generosity we are able to respond to real needs in our city. This month, funds from Grace helped support the new acceible washroom, shower, and laundry facilities at Royal City Mission.

One of our elders, Einar Skolseg, attended the dedication and ribbon cutting event, where RCM pastors expressed deep gratitude for our timely support. The money contributed allowed them to expand from one accessible bathroom to two, plus add a shower and laundry services.

Thank you for giving faithfully. Your generosity helps meet real needs, at just the right time! To learn more about the ways you can give, check out www.gracecommunity.ca/give.

$1000 to help family after house fire

We want to share a beautiful example of our church family stepping in to meet a need, harnessing the power and generosity of our church. A neighbour of a congregant at Grace, had experienced a devastating house fire. Recognizing the urgency and knowing the power of our church community, it was brought to our attention, and we were able to respond with $1,000 to help provide children’s clothes and household items to support the family as they begin to rebuild.

We want to keep the details of this situation confidential, but please join us in praying for this family as they face this difficult time. It's through compassionate actions like these that we can truly be the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

Thank you for being a church that cares and acts quickly to support those in need. Your generosity is making a real impact!

A Gift in Honour of Kate Nixon

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Kate Nixon, the coordinator of Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition / Your Downtown Friends Guelph, who passed away over the Christmas holidays at the age of 23 after a battle with leukemia. Kate was a fierce and fearless advocate for those in need in our community, and her legacy will continue to inspire many.

In honour of Kate and the incredible work she did, we have allocated $1,000 to support the Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition. This gift is our way of honoring Kate’s memory and continuing the important work she was so passionate about.

Let’s keep her family, friends, and the Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition team in our prayers during this difficult time. Kate's commitment to serving others was a true reflection of God’s love in action, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the cause she held so dear.

Helping a Local Family In Need

We are pleased to share an update on a recent outreach effort that highlights the impact of your ongoing generosity and care.

We were able to assist a local family who has been facing significant stress and mounting bills. This family is going through a challenging season, and our church was able to provide $1,000 in support—$500 in cash and $500 in gift cards. These funds will help alleviate some of their immediate financial burdens, offering relief as they navigate this difficult time.

As a church, it’s important that we remain attuned to the needs around us. If you know of a neighbour, schoolmate, or anyone in your community who is struggling and could use the gift of hope and love, please don’t hesitate to let us know. This is what outreach is all about—extending God’s love and compassion to those in need. Be sure to fill out an application to let us know of the need at www.gracecommunity.ca/justright

Helping our Partner Organization, Royal City Mission

We are thrilled to update you on an outreach initiative that took place this past September, thanks to your support and generosity as a church.

Our church was able to make a donation of $7,500 to Royal City Mission (RCM), a vital organization that serves the marginalized and homeless in our community. This contribution will be directed towards two important areas of need:

  1. $2,500 to Top Up Staffing Hours
As many of you may know, staffing hours at RCM have been reduced recently due to budget constraints. This portion of the donation will help restore critical staffing hours, ensuring that the mission can continue to provide support to those in need, while maintaining the quality of their programs.

  2. $5,000 to Support Laundry and Washroom Facilities
Laundry and washroom facilities were identified as among the top priorities at the Affordable Housing Summit earlier this year, highlighting the dire need for these basic services. RCM is working to install these essential facilities, but they require significant capital funding. Our contribution will go toward this goal and will bring them closer to their target. With our donation, they are now halfway to their $120,000 goal, thanks to other funds already collected.

We are grateful to partner with organizations like RCM, who are on the front lines of serving those in need in our community. Your continued support makes these efforts possible, and we are blessed to be able to share in this work together. Thank you to our Just Right Outreach Team who helps allocate and identify needs and areas to help!

$500 in Walmart Gift Cards To Help Family In Need

Through the efforts of our outreach team and your generous giving as a church, we were able to assist a young family in need. This family, originally from Eritrea and Sudan, is currently navigating several challenges. They have a young son with autism and are expecting a new baby in the near future.

To support them during this time, we provided $500 in Walmart gift cards to help with essential baby gear and other necessities for the family. These funds will go toward making their transition smoother as they prepare for the arrival of their new child, while also managing the needs of their son.

We are grateful for your continued support in serving families in our community, and we know that your kindness will make a meaningful difference in their lives.

100 Gift Cards, $25 each

This weekend, we're spreading extra cheer at Saturday Night Supper at Royal City Mission! In addition to providing a warm meal for those in need, we've purchased around 100 gift cards, each loaded with $25 for Tim Hortons and McDonald's. This small gift is our way of sharing some holiday warmth and care with the city of Guelph. Thank you for your continued support in helping us make a difference!

Support to Wellington Pregnancy Care

We are excited to share that your generous contributions have made a significant impact through a $500 donation to the Wellington Pregnancy Centre. Winter Clothes for Family

We are grateful to share how your generous tithes and donations have made a difference in the life of a local Ethiopian family in need. Through our outreach fund, we were able to provide $400 for winter clothes, ensuring the family stays warm this season. Additionally, several items from our church’s Boot and Coat Drive were given to them, as they had been arriving at the food cupboard in slippers and blankets. Thank you for your continued support in making these acts of compassion possible.

Train Ticket

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve been able to support many families in need throughout this month of December. One special example is providing a $250 train ticket to help bring a son home for Christmas from university, reuniting him with his family. This is just one of many ways your kindness is making a meaningful difference in the lives of those living on limited incomes in our community.
